Al-Maaytah sponsors the graduation of participants in the Youth Leadership Program

Under the patronage of Eng. Musa Al-Maaytah, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, the Amman Center for Human Rights Studies (OHRS), in cooperation with the All-Jordan Youth Commission, organized a graduation ceremony for the participants in the Youth Leadership Program, which coincides with the 74th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

"His Majesty the King and his Crown Prince have attached great importance to youth and their role  in development work in general and politics in particular, and because of our deep belief in this royal vision, the Independent Election Commission has worked to achieve it through the implementation of many programs and projects that motivate young people  and engage them in the  political and electoral process," Maaytah said in his speech at the graduation ceremony.

Al-Maaytah added that the Independent Election Commission is concerned with managing elections in a fair and transparent manner, developing political pluralism, and enhancing the participation of youth and women, indicating that the Commission has established a special unit concerned with empowering women, and stressed the need to deepen the  basic concepts of democracy, political pluralism, equality and the rule of law, national identity and human rights, and respect for the opinion and opinion of the other among young people, because they are the ones who will lead the next stage, they need more awareness and education.
Abdul Rahim Al-Zawahreh, Director General of the All-Jordan Youth Commission, said: "The Universal Declaration of Human Rights began in 1946 with the formation of a drafting committee composed of representatives of a variety of countries, including the United States, Lebanon and China.

Al-Zawahreh added that the All-Jordan Youth Commission, the youth arm of the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, through 13 headquarters spread in all governorates, implements a number of programs, activities  and courses through the legal culture axis, which works to build the capacities of young people in all fields and empower them in human rights fields.

Also speaking at the ceremony were the Acting United Nations Resident Coordinator, Dominic Patch, Dr. Lubna Bayouk, member of the  Scientific Council of the Amman Center  for Human Rights, the Ambassador of the European Union to Jordan, Hadjitheo Dosio, and  Al-Ain Asia Yaghi, Vice President of the Jordanian Network for Human and Peoples' Rights. 

The ceremony included a brief video about the Youth Leadership Program and the All-Jordan Youth Commission.
