The work of the Independent Election Commission is governed by a number of legislations.
As an institution, the Independent Election Commission holds a constitutional status, as stipulated in Article (67/2) of the Jordanian Constitution.
According to the law, "ministries, government departments, and official and public institutions are obligated to provide all forms of support and assistance requested by the Commission to enable it to carry out its assigned duties and responsibilities… During non-election periods", the Commission remains committed to its role and legal duties legally by “raising voter awareness of the importance of participation in political life, including electoral processes.”
