The Independent Election Authority meets the women's sector in Zarqa

The Independent Election Commission, in cooperation with the Women's Committees Association in Zarqa Governorate, held a dialogue meeting with the women's sector, as part of a series of meetingsheld by the Commission in this field, with the aim of raising awareness of the laws governing political life.
Ammar al-Husseini, a member of the Commission's Board of Commissioners, reviewed the recent constitutional amendments and developments in the parties and elections laws, indicating the increase in the number of seats allocated to women (quota) in local lists, which reached 18 seats, from 15.
Al-Husseini added that a national constituency has been established consisting of 41 seats allocated to parties out of 138 (the total number of seats in the House of Representatives) and by up to 30 percent in the next House of Representatives (the twentieth), provided that this percentage rises to 50 percent in the twenty-first House of Representatives, and then settles on 65 percent in the twenty-second House of Representatives.
Al-Husseini explained that the outputs of the Royal Committee transferred the file of parties to the Independent Election Commission to be responsible for managing the file of parties and financing itin accordance with the Political Parties Law.
Al-Husseini also highlighted the importance of establishing the Jordanian Electoral Institute, based at the Independent Election Commission, to grant and manage the Higher Diploma in Electoral Policy in cooperation with the Prince Hussein School of International Studies, with the aim of raising the efficiency of the Commission's staff,electoral workers and local and international partners.
An extensive discussion took place in which Al-Husseini answered questions and inquiries from the audience.
